Color Fractures

I created this series of shapes in 2013. I used a cheap pack of construction paper and a pair of scissors. My only rule was that I could only use straight lines. I return to investigate this project every few years and gain new perspective on myself and the creative process.

When relooking at this in 2025, the thing that struck me the most was how physical this was compared to the way we generate images nowadays. Cutting shape is a fairly simple and mindless task, but this still took hours of intense work. I remember my hands hurting from cutting and wanting to stop because this seemed so mundane.
